Signal Path has gone all in on their latest release encompassing all that the Big Beat/Techno/Glitch genre has had to offer as of late. Clash is a melting pot of influences with each track bringing a different flavor to the top of the stew as the rest bubble underneath. The Funk and Dillaesque intro of ‘Make it Fast Make It Last’ is killed off by the winding synths before the two blend together over top of the remaining pieces creating an extremely danceable track . Later on the album Signal Path embraces their Jungle influences on ‘Feel What You Are’ for 6 minutes of descending bass lines kept up to dancing speed by a foreground of quick hats and chopped vocals.
It is obvious that Signal Path had their eye on the live venue when crafting ‘Clash’, but even so a majority of the album translates well in the headphone listening and this is probably the greatest achievement of this release. Bridging the gap between live and home listening is a mark that can be missed in this genre more often then not. Their giving it away for free (check the link below) give it a listen and be sure to make it to their upcoming shows.
